The parent council, MAPC, is a high profile and significant forum for parents to influence the policies and direction of the school. MAPC arose from changes in the previous School Board and PTA arrangements into the new Parent Forum body.
This has come about with the introduction of the Scottish Schools (Parental Involvement) Act 2006 which places significant emphasis on parental responsibilities in their child’s education and the rights and expectations that they have with the school. The importance of having constructive open dialogue between the school and the parents is perceived as being one of the key issues. All parents are automatically elected to the Parent Forum with their Council (MAPC) comprised of up to 16 volunteer parents acting on their behalf. Following the rules laid out in the MAPC Constitution, each MAPC parent member serves a term of up to two years with 6 of the 12 parents stepping down automatically.
Since its formation the group has been well represented across the board with positive support by parents, teachers, pupils, local plus community councillors, co-opted members and Aberdeenshire Education Authority.
Office Bearers of the present committee are as follows:
Chair: Ms Marieke Wood
Vice Chair: Ms Katrina Suér
Treasurer: Mr Jim Hendry

MAPC are keen to have parents/carers play an active role and are appreciative of any assistance at social and other events where an extra pair of hands is always welcomed.
