  • Pupils should use the hand sanitiser when entering the building and when entering classrooms.  Regular hand washing is also encouraged
  • Pupils should keep left when moving around the building
  • Full school uniform should be worn by all pupils.
  • Changing rooms will now be in use and pupils should bring PE clothes to change into when required.
  • Uniform was relaxed last session however uniform has been strongly supported by parents in the past and it is hoped that parents will continue to play their part in promoting the wearing of school dress by all pupils at Mearns Academy.  Please see our agreed school uniform below:

It is also requested that black/brown shoes are worn or completely black trainers with no other colour.  Denim or denim-look jackets, denim or denim-look jeans, jeggings, football scarves and other cult emblems or badges should not be worn to school.

We hope you have had an enjoyable summer and all staff are excited in welcoming our young people back into the building following our summer break.

Scottish Government Asymptomatic Testing Programme
August 10th, 2021 at 1:48 pm

Mearns Academy will continue to offer testing to all pupils. Pupils are encouraged to test on Sunday/Monday prior to returning to school on Tuesday 17th August. Should you require access to test kits it is possible to make use of the universal testing offer to support these circumstances.

Once we return to school, test kits can be collected from the social space outside the English Faculty each day from 1300-1345. Any pupil who has not completed an online consent form e.g.P7 pupils who are transitioning into S1, must do so prior to being issued with test kits in school. It is recommended that pupils test twice per week.

It is important to note that this regular testing is only for individuals without symptoms. Those with symptoms must continue to follow the usual guidance. They must self-isolate and book a PCR test at a test centre or via a home test kit at the earliest opportunity. People with symptoms must not rely on a negative LFD result to continue to attend school.

Testing is voluntary. No-one who is otherwise permitted to come to school will be prevented from doing so just because they do not wish to participate.
