Pupil Leadership Team

We are delighted to offer you the opportunity to apply for our Pupil Leadership Team for session 2023-2024. Being part of the Leadership team is a fantastic opportunity to drive programmes and change within the school. You will have the opportunity to lead pupils and staff within the school and be responsible for your own team.

This year we are changing the structure of our Leadership team to a reduced number of 2 School Captains and 2-3 Vice Captains. In the House system there will be 1 Overall captain for each house plus Vice captains to support. These roles will have targeted responsibilities with excellent opportunities to leave a legacy.

If you are interested in any position on the Pupil Leadership Team please complete the application below. Successful applications will be invited to interview.

Please selected in order which role you are most interested in taking on. There are no guarantees but we will take all requests into consideration.

Applications should be submitted no later than Friday 21st April.

School Colours
January 11th, 2023 at 8:11 am

​Pupils can now apply for school half or full colours if you can meet the set criteria, the deadline for applications is Fri 27th January 2023. Colours can be awarded for the following:

Academic; Citizenship; Expressive Arts; Sport

For further details speak to your PTG or myself, application forms are on the school website – Colours. Completed applications need to be signed off by an appropriate member of staff and handed into the office for the attention of Mr Middleton.

Welcome to Mearns Academy

Mearns Academy is a six year, co-educational, comprehensive school which caters for a full range of courses, subject and abilities. The school is situated in Laurencekirk and has associated Primary Schools in seven surrounding villages. The school roll has risen over recent years and now stands at 681.

The area is probably most famous for its representation in the Lewis Grassic Gibbon trilogy, A Scots Quair. His most celebrated book, Sunset Song is contained in this compilation.

Mearns Academy places great emphasis on developing the personal and social skills and abilities of its pupils, as well as providing for a quality educational experience.
