Set within the Community Campus, the library serves both the young people within the Academy, and members of the community. The team of library staff will strive to ensure the needs of all users are met. The library is a central resource with over 10,000 items including books, graphic novels, dvds, and audiobooks.

Find out if we have the book you want by having a look at our online library catalogue:

There are 10 computers students can access, for work or recreation and 4 PC’s for the community. The library is open for pupils from 8.30am before school, break, lunch and after school where there is always a member of staff on hand to help. The library is an integral part of teaching and learning. Through S1 inductions, partnership working with teachers and pupils spending time in their library they will develop lifelong learning skills, information skills, and discover a love of reading. Pupils visit the library during class time to choose books for reading for pleasure or finding information and to use the computer. There is an active Library Council, consisting of staff and pupil representatives. This group acts as advocates for the library and helps organise events such as Book Week Scotland. Senior pupils are given the opportunity to work with the community taking IT taster sessions helping people with their computers and tablets, and work with the nurseries and at song and rhyme sessions with under 5s.

The library is a busy vibrant place and with author visits, book fairs, technology workshops, board games, puzzles for house points. There’s always something going on for pupils to get involved in!
