Foundation Apprenticeships at NESCOL

An information event for pupils and parents interested in Foundation Apprenticeships at NESCOL has been organised for Tuesday 7th March, Aberdeen City Campus from 6.15pm – 8pm.  This event offers the opportunity to come along to the College campus to see where course delivery will take place, speak to curriculum staff and ask any questions they may have before completing their applications.

Course Choice

S3, S4 & S5 pupils have been issued with course choice forms. S4 and S5 forms are due back on the 21st February, S3 due back on the 9th March. Printed booklets detailing all courses are available from reception for pupils and can also be viewed on the website

Career in Food and Drink

S4/5/6 were informed about a conference in Aberdeen on 23/3 to raise awareness of the food and drink supply chain activities in the North east along with the career and study opportunities for young people. For more details contact Mrs Nepute.

Dyslexia: Practical information & advice for parents & young people

  •  Dyslexia Scotland North East branch “a parent and young persons’ perspective”

Dundee-Angus College Open Day – 8 February

S4/5/6 Pupils  have the opportunity to visit Dundee and Angus College on 8 February. Pupils will be able to see all the different courses they have on offer, explore the campus, and ask any questions you have about attending college. Welcome to Mearns Academy

Mearns Academy is a six year, co-educational, comprehensive school which caters for a full range of courses, subject and abilities. The school is situated in Laurencekirk and has associated Primary Schools in seven surrounding villages. The school roll has risen over recent years and now stands at 649.

The area is probably most famous for its representation in the Lewis Grassic Gibbon trilogy A Scots Quair. His most celebrated book, Sunset Song is contained in this compilation.

Mearns Academy places great emphasis on developing the personal and social skills and abilities of its pupils, as well as providing for a quality educational experience.
