Assemblies have returned!  This week the focus of assemblies for S4-S6 pupils is ‘Preparation for Exams’ and will be led by Mr Christie & Mrs Logue.

Young Musician

We are delighted that our Young Musician competition returns this year and will take place in the Mearns Academy Community Campus Theatre on Wednesday 30th March.  Information on tickets will be issued separately.

Sports Day

Our annual sports day at Aberdeen Sports Village will return this year and will take place in June.

Staffing

We currently have two student teachers completing their placements here at Mearns Academy, Mr Fraser (Music) and Miss Simpson (English).  We wish them every success.

English Department

This year the English Department are holding their very first Annual Shakespeare Recitation Competition.

Any age group can enter. House points and a certificate will be awarded just for taking part.

Learn 14 lines or more of any Shakespearean work for your chance to win a trophy, a prize and have your name ‘writ large’ on our new Wall of Fame.

No acting required just show us the power of your memory. Judging will take place in front of 2 class teachers- no audience- so don’t be shy. Your teachers are also here to help you choose and learn your lines.

Sign-up sheets will be on your English Classroom doors.

We intend to have 3 days of Speech Heats from 28th to 30th of March and the winners of each will be invited to the Final on the 22nd of April as we celebrate Shakespeare’s Birthday in the English Department.

Come along and be Mearns Academy’s very first Shakespeare Day competitors.
