Staffing
Mr Leslie (Admin Support Officer) and Mr McRae (Teacher of Maths) take up post within Mearns Academy today. We are delighted to have them and wish them well as part of our team.
Parent Evenings
- As a reminder our S2 parent evening is to take place this week on Wednesday 6th October. If you have not yet signed up to book appointments, please do so by following communication previously issued.
- Our S3 Parent evening is to take place on Tuesday 12th October, information on how to book appointments will be issued to S3 parents this week.
- Moving into next term our S4 parent evening will take place on Wednesday 10th November.
Mearns Academy Attainment & Achievement Update
The annual attainment update was published last week, and we are delighted that overall, this year we have our highest attainment ever within Mearns Academy. This maintains the excellent progress which has been made over the last 7 years across the school.
There has been remarkable progress over the last 7 years in Mearns Academy where attainment has continued to improve. Please see below a snapshot of 5 key measures which have been used across several years. I would also like to recognise our exceptional level of Literacy and Numeracy Attainment across the school. Please see table below.

Senior Phase Evaluation Exercise
This week during PSE lessons, senior phase pupils will be completing an evaluation exercise around their senior phase qualifications. It is a chance for pupils to reflect on their progress and targets in each of their subjects. It is our chance as a school to evaluate how well pupils are being supported with their studies.
The questions which will be used were issued on Friday. If you are able to, please take some time to look through and discuss the questions with your young person in advance.

Grass Pitches
After serval years of dialogue, we are delighted that work on the new Mearns Academy Community Campus Grass Pitches has been completed. The pitches are ready to use and will add to our already excellent sports facilities.
Prefect Team Building
Our Prefects do a tremendous job in supporting the school. Over the last two weeks our Prefect Leaders have led sessions in supporting prefects in how best to deal with different situations which may arise. To develop this further we have invited Fifth Dimension, a team building development company who engage and inspire using magic, into Mearns Academy to work with all our Prefects.
We are sure this will be both an enjoyable and productive session and will continue to develop our strong Prefect team. The event will take place on Wednesday 13th October.
