Covid Updates

As happened after the summer break we are currently seeing a slight increase in the number of positive covid cases.  Numbers are still extremely small and in single figures however we want to remind all parents/carers and pupils the importance of:

  • regular lateral flow testing
  • hand washing/sanitising
  • wearing a face covering
  • If you or your child develop a new continuous cough, or high temperature, or a loss of/ change in sense of taste or smell, your child must not come to school. The symptomatic person should arrange a PCR test as soon as possible, and the whole household should stay at home until the test result comes back.

Parent Council

Last week we had a positive meeting with the Chair and Vice Chair of the Mearns Academy Parent Council.  We are currently working on plans to hold a sponsored cycle within the school which will involve pupils, staff and parents.  More information will be shared in the coming weeks.

The next MAPC (Mearns Academy Parent Council) meeting will take place on Wednesday 23rd November.

Well done and thank you to our Art department and pupils who raised £124.44 for the Poppy Appeal from selling the Remembrance Poppies which were hand made by pupils.

YPI Finals

Well done to all the S3 pupils who took part in the YPI semi-final on Friday. It was great to see so many local charities being represented.

The judges had the difficult task to choose the charities going through to the final and they have selected the following:

  • CLAN
  • Homestart Kincardine
  • Barnados
  • Special Olympics Grampian

Congratulations to all finalists. Time now to get feedback on how to improve your presentation and do your best to secure £3000 for your charity on Thursday 25th November.
